Excerpt
The aroma of lentil soup and grilled beef wafted from the kitchen. As they sat at the table for a quiet meal, the doorbell rang. "Shalom, Sarah." The nasal voice made John's stomach turn. It's Rabbi Caleb. "Shalom, Rabbi," John's mom paled as she opened the door. "I hope you are managing well under the circumstances." A sharp smile graced the Rabbi's face, giving him the appearance of a compassionate shark.
